Hansville, WA

Beach cabins at the tip of the peninsula with shallow lines, high water tables and a long drive for anyone who isn't already in Kitsap.

Leak detection technician with headphones pressing an acoustic sensor to gravel to locate a buried leak

Hansville is the north tip of the Kitsap Peninsula: Point No Point, Twin Spits, Driftwood Key, Buck Lake and the long wooded stretch of Hansville Road that gets you there. It is a beach community first. Many of the homes started as 1950s and 60s cabins and have been expanded over the decades, and the water service lines under them are a layered history of galvanized, copper, polyethylene and PEX depending on which decade the last addition went in. Those lines are often shallow because the original cabins were seasonal and nobody expected them to be lived in year round.

The beach communities sit right at the water table, which has two effects. Trenches fill with water as fast as we dig them, so we bring pumps on every Hansville call. And a leak rarely surfaces, because the ground is wet anyway and the sand drains. The usual first sign is a PUD bill or a community-system pressure complaint from the neighbors. We locate from the meter with acoustic equipment and a correlator, and on a shared beach-road main we can usually tell which service tap is the problem before anyone has to dig.

Up on the till plateau along Hansville Road and Twin Spits Road the parcels are large and wooded, the service runs are long, and the ground digs slow. For those we bring the mini excavator and, where a line has failed more than once, we'll usually recommend a continuous HDPE replacement over a series of spot repairs.

Hansville is a long drive for a Seattle or Tacoma company. It isn't for us. Call 360 Leak Finders at (206) 354-9906 and we'll get a technician headed north.

Leak detection in Hansville

At Point No Point, Twin Spits and Driftwood Key the sand and the high water table mean leaks never surface and trenches fill as they're dug, so we locate carefully from the PUD meter or the shared main and bring pumps. On the Hansville Road uplands the runs are long and wooded and the correlator does the narrowing.

Water line repair and replacement in Hansville

Beach cabin lines are shallow, layered from decades of additions, and often a mix of materials in one run. We replace those in continuous PEX or HDPE at proper depth. Upland acreage lines are long HDPE pulls through till.

Exterior drains in Hansville

Beach lots at the north tip sit at the water table and drains need gravity outlets to the beach side. On the uplands it's till that holds water and footing drains that have silted shut on 1970s to 90s homes.

Excavation in Hansville

Sand and water at the beach, hardpan and roots on the uplands. Pumps on every call. It's the far north end of our range and we plan Hansville days so the job finishes in one trip.

FAQ

Hansville questions

Who supplies water in Hansville?
Water here comes from Kitsap PUD's Hansville-area systems along with a number of small community systems and private wells at the north tip of the county. PUD meters sit at the road; on the beach communities at Point No Point, Twin Spits and Driftwood Key the meters and shared lines run along narrow beach roads. The private line from there to the house is the owner's, and that's what we locate on and repair.
What's the ground like for digging in Hansville?
The north tip of Kitsap is sand, gravel and beach deposits at the shore with dense till on the uplands, and the beach communities sit close to the water table.
How quickly can you get to Hansville?
Hansville is the far north end of our range, about forty minutes up Highway 3 and Hansville Road, and we schedule it so you're not waiting. Emergencies are dispatched immediately, day or night.
What kind of pipe is under Hansville homes?
1950s through 1970s beach cabins that have been added onto for decades, mixed with newer retirement and vacation homes, so we see old galvanized and copper beside modern poly and PEX.
